Additional supplied bundled software includes Zoom Browser EX 4.0, PhotoRecord 1.6 for Windows only, ImageBrowser 2.7 for Mac only, and Photostitch 3.1, Apple Quick Time 5.0, CP-100 Print Driver 2.1 File Viewer Utility 1.0 and RemoteCapture 2.6 for both Mac and Windows. With great applause to Canon, this camera is fully compatible for Windows XP and Mac OS X, as well as previous Mac and Windows OS versions. Images are recorded onto a Compact Flash digital memory card, as mention previously; but the PowerShot S45 can also “Direct Print” to selected Canon Bubble Jet printers and the Canon CP-100. You can also use twain mode or the USB based download application to move images from the camera to your printer. We very much like that Canon has still stuck with the Compact Flash memory card form factor for two simple reasons; 1) It is still the most popular and easiest to find in stores, and 2) CF cards are of a larger capacity than any other digital storage card available today, and probably for some time too. The battery power for the PowerShot S45 is provided by a Canon proprietary NB-2L 7.4volt, 570 mAh Li-ion battery. While we've been very skeptical of proprietary batteries, instead of standard AA sized (available in a pinch in any store around the world), the service of this battery was exceptional. We shot through an entire 256MB CF card, 50% with flash, before depleting the battery and the NB-2L battery recharged within 2 hours using the compact sized charger that came with the camera. I'd suggest that you buy a couple extra batteries for your vacation trips though, just in case. |

Pros: Features, features, features, rugged construction, size, uses widely available CF Flash Cards and price. The proprietary battery last very long and charges quickly. Cons: A bit heavy and it uses a proprietary battery instead of conventional AA that you can find anywhere in a pinch. Tech-edge E-zine gives
