TIP
4 - Making PtP install on XP
We tried three different ways to install PtP on a Windows XP system
and we feel that the following the easiest method.
Insert
CD "Asante_VP1100"
Open "Drivers" folder
Open "Ptp_95nt" folder
Select and double click Setup.exe
Asante Print Server Driver application window opens, Select "next".
Choose Destination Locations window, next"
Select Program Folder window, "next"
Setup Complete window, check "Configure Print Driver now", click "Finish"
Information window, click "OK"
Printer Port Setup window, highlight it by selecting "Port 1", "printer
name", click "next", then click "OK"
"Add Port" window should say: "Printer Server Port LPT1:SCD11531"(depending
on which version you have).
Added successfully. Click "OK"
Configure Printer Port window, click "Cancel" and close "Printer Port
Setup" window.
Open Windows "Start", then "Settings", then "Printers and Faxes", and
finally "Add Printer"
Select "Add Printer Wizard", click "next"
Select
"Local printer attached to this computer". Unselect "Automatically detect
and install my Plug and Play printer".
From
"use the following port":, select "LPT1: ÖÖ..(Print Server Port)", click
"next"

Either select your
printer from the list, or select "Have Disk Ö.", click "next"
If successful, "we suggest doing a test print", click "Finish".
It should be working at this point.
The Asante
VP1110L
Parallel Port Print Server (P/N 99-00727-01) should be available right
now through various retail sources, the retail price is $149.
The Asante
VP1120U
USB 1.1 Print Server (P/N 99-00728-01) should be available later this
September through various retail sources, it's retail price is $179.
If you
want to make either of these network print servers 802.11b wireless, you
will need the Asante 802.11b PC Card AL1011-DP
(P/N 99-00746-01), which retails for $139.
Both
network print servers carry a two (2) year manufacturers product warranty.
Having personally been a previous owner of various Asante products for
many years, I can vouch that they are a first rate company, whether you
use Mac's or PC's
