Sonnet drops
prices of Encore/ST Processor Upgrade Kits.

Sonnet Technologies, has annonced that they have lowered prices by as much as $70 on the entire line of Encore/ST G4 upgrades for upgrading certain Power PC Macs.
Sonnet's new lower prices on Encore/ST upgrades are as follows:
Encore/ST G4 800
MHz $279.95 (was: $299.95)
Encore/ST G4 1.0 GHz $429.95 (was: $499.95)
Encore/ST G4 1.2 GHz $529.95 (was: $599.95)
The Encore/ST line
of products is compatible with the following Macintosh models:
Power Mac G4 (AGP Graphics)
Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet)
Power Mac G4 (Digital Audio)
Power Mac G4 (QuickSilver 2001)
Power Mac G4 Cube*
Macintosh Server G4
Encore/ST
The Sonnet Encore/ST 800 MHz, 1.0 GHz, and 1.25 GHz processor upgrades
for Power Mac® G4 machines utilize the 745X series of Motorola G4
chips, delivering processor performance of upto three times that of the
original systems. All three models include 2MB DDR (Double Data Rate)
L3 backside cache, the same moderncache RAM found on Apple's latest G4
towers. This provides the highest possible performance and compatibility.
*Cube
requires additional installation kit, and professional installation is
highly recommended. Kit for Encore/ST G4 800 MHz and 1.2 GHz is available
now; kit for 1.0 GHz will be available within 90 days.
?Equivalent to listed Power Mac G4 models; Xserve not supported.
All models of the Encore /ST carry 2MB of double data rate (DDR) L3 cache. This is the latest and fastest in memory technology, and is what Apple now employs on its G4 towers. Since it is the new Apple standard, DDR provides the highest level of hardware compatibility going forward, without the need for special software patches or updates.
