Our Editor was talking to Play magazine's publisher Michael Eisenberg on the KABC radio show Keith does monthly in LA, and the subject of contact management and PIM software for Macintosh came up. Michael asked if there was a software product that worked for both Mac and PC, since his publication uses both platforms. The first thing that came to our mind was Act, but I knew that there was no Mac version. I could only think of Palm Desktop as being available for both platforms, and are essentially identical for Mac and Windows. However, there is no “contact manager” function in Palm. We also
looked at what other users were saying about using Now Up-to-Date &
Contact; some of these users have had years of experience with NUDC on
the Mac. The latest Windows version is 4.5, as of the beginning of our testing. The Calendar and Contact functions are the heart of the application and are what anyone using their Mac for business will need. Unfortunately the new Windows Now Up-to-Date 4.5 does not have the Contact module as yet, something that the Power On press release promises soon as the beta testing progresses. |
